Yorkshire Air Museum and South Yorkshire Air Museum

After a couple of days in the Northeast, it was time to head South again.  My first stop was the
Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington.  This museum has lots of planes outside and also a large hanger, stuffed full!

As you enter the museum, the gate guardian is a nice looking Spitfire 1 replica R6690

As it wasn't raining, I whizzed around the outdoor exhibits first.  Victor K2 XL231 is one of the larger aircraft on display here.  Other aircraft include French Airforce Mirage IIIE 538, a Royal Canadian Air Force CT-133  133417, Devon C2 VP967, a stunning Hunter T7A XL571 representing a Hunter of the RAF Blue Diamonds display team who flew 16 blue hunters from 1960 to 1962.

Next to it is a Hunter FGA-78 QA10 of the Qatari Air Force and an RAF Tornado GR4 XZ631

One of my favourite British jets is the Buccaneer.  There are three examples here, a Royal Navy Buccaneer S2 XN974, An RAF Buccaneer S2B XV168 in grey/green camouflage and S2B XX901 in Gulf War colours.

There is also a nice looking ME109 Replica displayed close to Halifax III LV907.  One of only three remaining, this aircraft is a composite of multiple aircraft and painted to represent "Friday 13th" that flew over 160 sorties in WWII.

Also here was Jet Provost T3A XN582, parked up with a live aircraft sign, though I can't find any information to suggest it is still airworthy.

Less than an hour further on is the South Yorkshire Air Museum at Doncaster. This museum has a large number of aircraft cockpit sections on display, as well as a good mix of aircraft.  Amongst the cockpit sections are Jaguar GR1 XX736, Vulcan B2 XL388 and Canberra T17 WJ565.

As usual, the planes were crammed into the hanger making it almost impossible to get any good photos.  These are the best I could get. Meteor T7 WA662 with MW-8 G-MYJX above, Sycamore 14 XE317 and Taylorcraft Plus D OY-DSZ (Painted up as Auster AOP-1 LB314).

Outside were Sea King HAS6 XV677, Jet Provost T3 XN350, Dominie T1 XS735 with Jetstream T1  XX495, MB339 4-A-116 of the Argentinian Navy and Lynx HAS3 XZ246
