As I made good time the previous day, I had time for a few hours plane spotting at Manchester Airport. The viewing area here is really nice. It has a Café, toilets, a raised viewing area with rain shelters (which I made good use of!) and a few aircraft on display including Trident 3 GAWZK, RJX100 G-IRJX and Concorde G-BOAC.
The airport was very busy, with both scheduled and holiday charter flights. There were many flights from the budget giants Ryanair and Easyjet including Boeing 737 EI-DPI and Airbus A319 OE-LQE.
The most common holiday charter airines are Jet2 and TUI. Both operate a variety of aircraft, including Boeing 757s (G-LSAK) and Airbus A320s (ES-SAF), Boeing 767s (G-OBYK) and Boeing 787s (SE-RFZ).
Both major British international airlines fly out of here with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic flights arriving or departing in the few hours I was here. Airbus A320 G-EUUX of British Airways and Airbus A330 GVSXY of Virgin Atlantic. Loganair (Scotland's Airline) also fly here with their ATR72s (G-LMTB).
There were also many international airlines flying here from Europe and beyond. Here are some of the long haul flights: Ethiopian Airlines Airbus A350 ET-AWN, Singapore Airlines A350 9V-SMH, Qatar Boeing 787 A7-BHB, Etihad B787 A6-BLJ and Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 NEO TC-LUP.
European Airlines included a Lufthansa A320 D-AIZX, Lauda Europe A320 9H-LAX (operating a Ryanair service), An Air Baltic A220 YL-AAS, Air Lingus Regional ATR72 G-CMMK, SmartLynx A320 YL-LDN (operating an SAS service), KLM ERJ-175 PH-EXX, Swiss A220 HB-JCN, SAS A320 OY-KAL and Aegean Airlines A320NEO SX-NEG.
There were also a few smaller aircraft using the airport with ERJ-145 D-AHOI, PC-12 G-MDSI and Bombardier Global HB-JKR all departing whilst I was there.
