This morning i paid a visit to Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary, in the Adelaide Hills near Stirling. This is a small privately run sanctuary with a mix of captive and wild animals and birds on site.
I was one of the first through the gate and was "mugged" by the Emus as I entered the enclosure LOL!
As we entered the woodland, I spotted this Grey Fantail.
Red-necked Wallabies were all over the place. This one was nibbling on a native flower.
A bit further on, a small party of Yellow-rumped Thornbills were busy in the trees.
At the lake were a couple of Little Pied Cormorants, lots of turtles, and some Little Grebes.
Over Easter, we are heading up the Strzlecki Track, and then back across to Whyalla, so I hope to have some shots to share!!
The sanctuary has a variety of habitats, with a few pools and areas of eucalyptus forest.
One on of the pools was a very confiding Little Grebe. I noticed later that a turtle had swam past during this time.
There are also some kangaroos and wallabies here, and some bandicoots all protected from introduced predators.
