This is not Australia!

I was busy this weekend and only managed a short walk with a few photos - not enough for a post. Having spent this evening speaking with various relatives back in England, hearing about all the snow, I thought I'd post these photos from December 2001 when I was working in Budapest in Hungary. I was lucky enough to visit Hungary numerous times and made some very good friends there. Once you leave the city, it is like traveling back in time........... This is a small holding in the Hortobagy National Park. No power, no running water. At least this farm near Abony has power, but it still relies on a well for water. The Gereche Hills around Budapest are very picturesque in all seasons, but especially so in winter. This day was -25C (-13F) and I could only manage about 30 seconds before my hands froze and I had to return to the car. Apart from a few crows, this Tree Sparrow, puffed up against the cold, was the only bird I saw.
