Merry Christmas Everyone!

This year we have decided not to send Christmas cards, and instead have made a donation to Cows for Cambodia on everyone's behalf. This is a locally run charity that provides poor Cambodian families with a cow.  This is how it works. Cows for Cambodia is essentially a “COW BANK”. They loan Cambodian families a pregnant cow. They must look after the cow, and when it has the calf they get to keep the calf. Cows for Cambodia take their cow back, ready  to be impregnated again. It’s more about providing an opportunity to break the poverty cycle rather than a direct handout. To find out more about Cows for Cambodia, (and also make a donation if you wish), follow this link.
We wish all our family and friends a very Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.  We'll leave you with the weather forecast for Adelaide where we are expecting the hottest Christmas in 70 years and some pictures from some local houses all decked out for Christmas.

More Christmas Lights

In the week we took another trip out to look at more Christmas lights. this time we headed west, to Pelham Street in Ethelton, where many houses in this street decorate their houses.

We then headed towards the city, and the riverbank by the West End Brewery.  They put on a display each year along the banks of the River Torrens.  Some of the displays depict nursery rhymes, others childrens movies.

Christmas Lights - Northern Suburbs

Every year we take a drive or two to look at Christmas lights in nearby suburbs.  Last night we went to Salisbury East to see a favourite of ours -  Len's Christmas Lights. Len's lights never fail to please with their magical mix of Christmas Carols and lights.

Len also has some lovely little scenes, including a Nativity, and even the North Pole!

Next stop was Salisbury North, where we visited a couple of houses.

More lights to come soon...........

Lobethal - Christmas lights and the Christmas story

Last night we took Mum to Lobethal, in the Adelaide Hills, to see the Christmas lights. There as also a living Nativity that is performed each evening. Lobethal is well known for it's Christmas lights. Many of the houses are decorated with lights. Lobethal is only a small town and the roads quickly become deadlocked! Some houses are decorated completely, whilst other just have a few lights in the garden. Thanks for visiting my blog. Merry Christmas everybody.

Christmas Lights

In Adelaide, many people decorate their houses for Christmas. It has also become a tradition to take the kids round in the week before Christmas looking at all the lights. Here are a selection from the neighbourhood around my house. I would like to wish all my blogging friends a very merry Christmas, and a happy and peaceful new year. Please take care and stay safe over the holiday, and I look forward to blogging with you in 2010.
