Kangaroo Island - Part 2 - Seal Bay
From Flinders Chase we headed back along the south coast road towards Seal Bay.
As we were leaving Flinders Chase, we saw this Purple-gaped Honeyeater drinking from a dripping rainwater tank. The only view was through a fence so unfortunately you can't see all of this gorgeous honeyeater.
Further along the road we stopped to allow this Echidna (Spiny Anteater) to cross the road. After ushering it off the road, I grabbed my camera and accidentally switched it to manual. I only noticed later so the photos are not great. This is the best of a bad lot.
Seal Bay Conservation Park is home to a colony of Australian Sealions. We took a guided tour down on to the beach and were able to get really close views of the sealions.
This young seal had been rolling in the sand before taking a stroll down the beach and washing itself off.

I'm hopefully going to visit S.A. at Easter next year. If it's too hot to go inland, I may just go to see your wonderful Kangaroo Island.

Hi Richard, Easter should be OK for either.....or both!! Let me know when you are coming, I'd be happy to show you around if I am available
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, you can come by either. We went by ferry, about 40mins each way. the ferry is about 1.5 hrs south of Adelaide.
Hi John, great to hear from you again, yes it's one of our prettier honeyeaters.
It is nice to see your lovely warm weather photos, especially now that all of our water is frozen. It helps one cope to know that it is not winter everywhere!
ReplyDeleteHi again Wilma. Glad to be able to give you that warm feeling - but I do miss not having a proper winter!!
